At the end of August, I hired an arborist to remove a tree. According to the worker, during the stump grinding, a rock got caught in his machine and shot into my house. The owner of the company already promised to fix it (I have this in writing via text message). He promised he'd get someone out to do the repairs the Friday after Labor Day. That's the last time I heard from him. I have texted him twice in the weeks since to no avail.
I just received the bill for the work in the mail. I'm tempted to call the company directly and say I refuse to pay until the repair is done, but I'm not sure if I have legal standing to do so. I would hate to have to do a legal battle over something like this, but I feel like I deserve to have my house fixed on their dime! Do I have any standing here?
