In Upstate New York. I received a ticket on Labor Day for an expired inspection (expiration was July). Cop mentioned to get it inspected in the next 1-2 days and that they might ādismiss itā but that inspections are not considered āfix itā tickets.
I went the next day, got my inspection (pass), and the paperwork from the dealer to confirm it. Plead not guilty and mailed it in with the proof of inspection.
A few days later I received a letter that the city has my not guilty plea and that the prosecutor is offering reduced charges (jaywalking). Original fine is $138. Offer is $50.
I am confused on if I donāt take this, does this mean Iāll likely owe the $138? Is someone other than the prosecutor going to review this? If I donāt respond to the plea deal do I just wait for a decision?
