Its a long story so I'm going to try to sum it up best I can. Someone I know blatantly lied and pressed charges against me for assault, after calming down the next day claims they are dropping the charges, 2 months go by and I suddenly get arrested on a warrant, I get bonded out 24 hours later after my arraignment, the person who pressed charges had supposedly forget to get around to dropping charges and after the arrest they wrote a letter admitting their "exaggerations" (putting it lightly because they are worried of getting in trouble for making up charges) and supposedly given it to the DA.
What do I do from here? I have around 3 weeks for my next appearance and I'm not sure if I need to hire a lawyer or get one appointed to me or what to do? Really I have minimal information on whats going on with the whole situation. If the person who made all this up doesn't want to continue or admits they lied, can the DA still get me for something?
