So I have used the chicken coop for a few months and started having issues with the doors, and started seeing all sorts of things wrong with how it was built. I attempted contacting the company that built it 3 (maybe 4, I can't recall) times. They first time via email they messaged me back saying it shouldn't be falling apart and that they'd get to with me. The 2nd time via text they informed me that right after my complaint their coop they built for themselves started having similar issues.
After that message of saying they would get back to me.. ghost. I tried 2 more times after that for a total of two more weeks to allow them time to get back to me as it is a 2 person company. After I contacted the BBB to file a report with over 32 images of things that need to be repaired and addressed on the coop.
Thus far that was another 2 weeks and the BBB informed me they had also mot heard from this company and was reaching out a second time. It's about to roll up on 30 days from when I contacted the BBB.
I will be getting a local guy to repair what can be repaired.. but most of it is so far out of the question. The whole run bottom is raw untreated unsealed wood touching the ground. The posts holding the coop up off the ground are also unsealed wood posts that aren't buried or sunk into the ground in any way. There are several other issues that I'll have to get addressed (most of the building was put together with staples that are coming out now).
Where should I turn to now to at least get refunded the amount to fix the coop. I'm not expecting a full refund due to materials ans I guess their hack job of labor they did. I have every interaction I did with these people, minus the day they built the coop and that day they hardly spoke to me. Everything else is via text to where they agreed to the job and all the details. I had even given them photo references of what style coop and run I wanted and to say the least.. the end result is no where near those images.
I was recommended small claims as at the least they wouldn't (or shouldn't rather) ignore a issued notice from that. I paid almost 3 grand for this coop and run, have live birds that are in danger due to the structure not being secure. I will be having to get a temp setup to house them while I get the main coop and run fixed. I also found local builders who make coops around the same price and took clippings of those posts to compare local value to what I got out of my payment.
