I've been teaching 18 years. I've never had a complaint from parents. Now I've been set up to fail. I've been put into a new grade with no curriculum and a hostile grade lead teacher. I've asked what she was using to teach and she said, "go look online" without any further assistance.
New admin this year have started with a fault-finding mission. I've been accused of saying inappropriate things to students, which have been grossly exaggerated. For example, saying "R-rated movies often have a sex scene, which is why you can't see them until you're older" was interpreted as "talking to the students about sex"
Talking about heroes, one kid mentioned Deadpool. I said Deadpool was an anti-hero. Admin claims I brought up Deadpool, and Deadpool is an R-rated movie, so I had suggested to kids they should go see R-rated movies. I'm not a fan of the character. There's no reason I would bring him up.
Today they met with me with more charges of being late, of falling asleep in class, of setting up my room wrong, and other minor things. I addressed all of those and admin did not bring them up again
Except for one "gotcha". I was telling the students why we have lockdowns, because of school shootings. The kids had asked, since there were some local threats. I realized I should get back on topic when the principal walked in. To him, I was talking about things I knew I shouldn't be talking about, and changing the subject is proof of my guilt.
The fact is, he has zero proof I said anything. Yet I got a written reprimand today which will be followed up with a meeting next week. I expect I will be fired.
Because of my teaching status, I cannot be fired without a reason. Admin have fired two other teachers the first month of school, and now they're coming for me. I surmise they want to replace me with a less expensive 1st year teacher.
They're going to do what they're going to do. If I'm not fired, I will transfer to another school in the same district. My question, is there any legal consequences I can do? I want this blemish off my record.
