I’m currently taking out a protection order on an ex for stalking and domestic violence. However, I’ve been very hesitant on doing this due to the consequences he may face.
I do need protection but I don’t want to be responsible for him being deported. He is in the U.S. on a student visa but he is no longer a student, he does not have a work permit yet but he applied for one, and he has already applied for asylum to get a green card I think. Im fairly certain that he is undocumented currently.
Based on that info, what consequences would he face if the protection order goes through (my lawyer says it most likely will go through). I was also presented the option to extend my temporary protection order for 12 months. Does the temporary PO still show up on his record temporarily? Or not at all?
