I’m on F1 OPT. Can I get paid for a research study?

Post Body
Hi all. So I am an international student on F1 OPT and got accepted to participate in a research study that would pay between $100-$575. I just looked at the consent form and it states that I would need to provide my SSN to receive payment. Now typically, getting paid for anything that’s not directly related to your major is not allowed. So I am wondering if I can do this one time thing. I do not want to jeopardize my legal status here or have future immigration problems.
I need guidance. Pls help.
