Debt collections
Post Body

I just received a notice in the mail from debt collections for an unpaid electric bill from an account I had while living in an apartment two years ago. I had paid off all of my bills there and closed the account over the phone with a live representative when the lease was up (Nov 1st, 2022). The notice I received from collections says the balance was from Nov 2022. I never received any notice from the electric company about this. I just checked all my old emails, which was how I was paying the electric company. I figure this was either the landlord or new tenant using the electric after I had moved out. Should I fight this or just suck it up and pay it?
