Ok. So here’s all the little details and things. First off, it’s a 1971 vehicle and looks great from the outside but has some rust issues underneath. The kid who bought the vehicle from my friend lives near me. He used an old PA tag that was with the vehicle to drive it home from New Jersey. He left that tag on the antique and used it to drive around. Then he realized the antique vehicle had some frame rust and left it sit. I would see the guy and ask if he transfered the tag yet. He never did and would pretend he was going to. So this went on and eventually the thing got towed. The buyer called the tow company and ultimately had to talk to police.
The cop was planning on giving him a handful of tickets but the kid said he was duped and the guy in Jersey played him and gave him a piece of rusty unfixable crap. He paid $3500 for it. In my opinion, It’s not bad and it’s fixable. He only has a bill of sale for $700 because the kid didn’t want to pay the taxes. The bill of sale also states “as is, where is”
Ok, so the police officer felt bad for the kid and decided to send the person who last registered the 1971 plate a fine. Well, that was the guy before my friend so he got a fine for this situation. Obviously that guy can prove it hasn’t been his for years.
Meanwhile we hear that the kid is happy with this whole outcome because he thought it was the last guy getting the fine. I’d like to point out that the kid is 29, cocky, thinks he knows better than everyone, is running from the law, always has tons of drugs and sells guns. Not to mention his address is unknown by police. The kid is a good for nothing little pain in the ass.
The kid isn’t going to get the title transferred. He’s staying away from the law. He’s got a jeep that will be repossessed any day now because he thinks he’s better than it all.
Question: can my friend just apply for a duplicate and regain ownership? It’s a liability to have this vehicle on the road and it can be set free from towing for $487
