I'm sure this question is stupid, but if you can imagine it's a stressful topic. Austin, TX.
I lived in an apartment just paying money to the other roommate, but I eventually filled out a form to apply to be added as a roommate on his lease. I just filled out my basic information you would in any rental application. A credit check or background check wasn't run, they said all that would happen if we reupped the lease, whatever. A few days later I was just added to the apartment's renter portal. I never saw, or signed, a copy of the lease. I still haven't seen it. I've reached out three or four times trying to get a copy of the lease to see if my name's even on it, but they ignore my emails.
That roommate moved out but didn't break his lease. I have also moved out, and my "subletters" aren't able to pay rent this month. So...am I even on this lease? Am I responsible, and will I have an eviction on my record, if I've never seen nor signed the lease?
