Trying to post this without too much identifying info…
I recently lost my job as government employee in an “at will” state. Rather than fire me, the board eliminated my position and gave me severance.
I’m not fighting the dismissal, I just want to know “why”. All they would say is that “the board has decided to go in a different direction”. I just want to know how to improve myself and to make sure I didn’t do anything seriously wrong without knowing it.
I have not signed anything yet. If I sign the form with adding language requesting notes from the meetings could they counter by reducing the severance?
Thanks in advance.
