Texas: So long story short I agreed to hang out and help a âfriendâ move. 15 mins into me just standing around I tried to take a seat on a mattress that was in the living room which was the only place because there were was no seating. I go to sit and I hear a cracking noise.
Come to find out they had the TV laying on the mattress faced up with a thick blanket covering it. They did not tell me it was there and now want me to pay to replace the TV.
I agreed to help out with costs with no formal payment arrangements (schedule or timeframe) because I couldnât say when I would for sure have how much we agreed upon but now they are threatening to take me to court if I donât pay more (I guess itâs taking longer than theyâd like).
Do they have a case? Can they show that I was negligent or liable if I didnât even know the TV was there? They had plenty of opportunity to ask for help moving it but instead let me sit down causing the damage.
