I am a woman working the tv entertainment industry trying to decide if legal action is worthwhile. I was let go from my corporate creative job (2 1/2 years at the company) with a month left on my maternity leave, their reasoning being “restructuring” and my position being eliminated- but I know for a fact they promoted the person below me to the same title. I was the only person in my department let go, and only 1 of 2 in the company (my small company is owned by a larger one, there were other layoffs in the larger company but only 2 in ours). They are honoring my maternity leave and starting 6 weeks severance after that.
Is it worth consulting a lawyer or pursuing any legal action? This is also a business all about relationships so I fear future professional fallout from a lawsuit.
