I'll TRY to make this short.. I have a co worker, we will call him jimmy... I have worked at the same place as jimmy for, me 3 years, him 5 years. I am about 10 years older than jimmy and have had more life experiences and the time and ability to build a more stable life than jimmy has. I don't know why, but Over time I kept hearing from the other 5 employees he has been "running his mouth" behind my back. I don't care and didn't really ask to much about it, I get along well with everyone else I work with, we are all friends except jimmy. so his opinions of me are of no concern...
BTW This is a job at a dispensary selling weed....Basically the easiest job I could find, part time with lots of perks, what I call an early retirement, (I 37) After 23 years in construction. I started, built and sold a successful construction company, we live a comfortable life from years of hard work. Recently we had words at work, (I called him out for not doing his job) he's the "supervisor" so he was completely unprofessional trying to physically fight me, saying how much he makes, and how "successful" he is lol... Basically Jimmy doesn't understand how things work in a professional workplace. All of the past is well behind, no grudges were held. We Seemed to be getting along. Skip to today, a friend coworker comes and tells me, he is telling people "i beat my wife"... we have been married happily ten years with zero history of any types of abuse, and we both thought it was funny but the most ridiculous thing for him to think to say seeing how she's never even been around him.. jimmy is weird. I asked all other coworkers if they thought that and laughed as well. They do know my wife as she has became friends with all but jimmy. We both wonder how this thought even came about... If still reading thank you.
My ? Is what should I do and what can be done about having jimmy telling such a ridiculous lie to other employees. Being that it's a criminal act he is spreading lies about me doing. Is there any certain way i should go about handling this? Thank you
