The mother of my children (we are divorced) rents a 3 br apartment in Florida. I am not on the lease because I do NOT live here. However, I work nights per diem so I babysit at her place while she works. she works Monday through Saturday 8 AM to 6 PM. Earlier today the "office " knocks on her door and I tell them that the Tendant is not home. Guy hands me a paper. this piece of paper is a notice of a violation of lease agreement alleging that unauthorized people are being house in this apartment without the consent of the apartment complex gives a seven day periodTo rectify the situation. so I can understand with me being here a while the office is open. They assume that I am living here. Is this a legal avenue that they are taking and can they really cancel her lease under a wrong assumption that I live here?. I would appreciate any advice because it was very hard for her to get this apartment in the first place.
