Reposting to this sub since i was advised to come here instead.

So, i have a basement-level 2 bed and we've had a leak in the floor of one of our bedrooms. Our landlord has come to look at it twice, only to never get back to us after he leaves to "look into the problem", and it continues to happen.

My roommate believes it's causing some kind of mold in her floor(and I absolutely believe her), and is thinking about getting the city involved if it continues to go ignored.

I'm just curious about what could I expect to come from that? I'm not very familiar with the laws about this and I don't really have anywhere to stay for more than a night or two, so that's kind of my peak worry, given I know how shitty landlords can be.

Edit: It's also worth noting that I have a cat, and despite him being on the rental application, the landlord acted surprised when he came by the other day and saw him. Also worried he'll try to retroactively or start charging us a pet fee, despite no mention or advertising of one. We've been here for about 5 months.
