This order protects myself and two children from my ex-husband/their father.

He’s currently prison until December 2025 the longest and November 2024 the earliest for work release on other DV charges involving a different woman.

He did not show up for the final P.O hearing (virtual, he was served via sheriff and the return of service document was submitted to the court so he’s had plenty of time to prepare) so I assume I was granted the order by default but the judge said I met my burden of proof (I had a few “smoking gun” exhibits and other fairly convincing ones) and there is no verbiage in the order stating the judgement is by default, only that he, the respondent, did not show up.

The judge ordered he receive state certified domestic violence treatment program. It’s not clear in the order what will or will not happen if he does not do this. I’m confident I will have to seek another year protection next August regardless of his prison release status.

If he doesn’t get the treatment will it bode well for me making my case? How do I find out if he does or does not get into a program?

Thanks in advance!
