I brought my son to the doctor’s today and found out that back in April, he was prescribed methylphenidate for his diagnosis of ADHD. He just turned 7 btw. He’s a super smart, sweet, emotional kid, but he’s had a very difficult home life at his mom’s. There’s lots of emotional abuse and a severely unhealthy amount of manipulation in an attempt to constantly alienate him from me. He gets screamed at a lot, even before school. I know him and I know that he is severely affected by all this. Anyways, I’m dead set against prescriptions like this for kids. I believe the problem should be addressed, not the symptoms to the problem. His mom and I have joint custody and joint decision making, but she does what she wants anyways. This crosses a line that I didn’t think would ever be crossed though. My question is, do I have any legal recourse here against his mother or the pediatrician? Their office is in New Hampshire and his mother lives in New Hampshire. I have a ton of crap going on that I could use advice on, but this is by far the most pressing. Thank you.
