Okay, so I'm in a bit of a pickle.
I am an autistic woman who has been labeled as "high functioning" (a term which I do not identify with as it is enormously stressful for me to emulate neurotypical levels of functionality - as such, I prefer the term "high stress"), and I live in Kansas City, Missouri.
Things are mostly good, but I have a major issue - that is, I have a pacing stim.
I want to be incredibly clear here. A lot of people will say I'm making excuses for being disruptive. I am not making excuses for being disruptive. This stim has dramatically impacted my social life as it is one of my most noticeable and stereotypically autistic traits. I work very hard to reign in this stim and keep it from bothering others. Parents, teachers, and even employers have given me endless shit about the pacing stim and tried over and over and over again to get me to stop. It's one of my least favorite aspects of myself, I wish I could get rid of it, I genuinely hate it.
However, I keep doing it because it's a stim. I'm just like this. There are no "if"s, "and"s, or "but"s to this, I'm not trying to excuse my shitty behavior, I hate it too.
However, I have received complaints because of my stimming in my apartment and my landlord is now threatening to evict me if it does not stop.
I want to know if there are any resources available that could help if worst comes to worst. The landlord is disliked among other tenants and I have reason to suspect he likes throwing his weight around, so I would like this to focus on methods of making his life difficult if he attempts this; however, housing resources for disabled people would also be very much appreciated.
