Post Body

Within my first week of living at this home, I had the maintenance manager out to talk about the glass in my yard as well as some things I noticed inside that weren't great. She told me that there's a lot of glass in the yard because "neighborhood kids will break in during the remodeling process and break glass and graffiti." That absolutely floored me that she would just say something like that.

The next day, my dog cut her foot.

The day after that the maintenance manager returned to install a CO detector since we didn't have one. I showed her my dog and she didn't say sorry. Just sort of an "oh :("

After our initial talk (when she told me people break into her properties), she said she would have the lawn service take a look and clean up glass but later that month, lawn services were cancelled as it is outlined in our lease that lawn is a tenant responsibility. I am currently attempting to pull up my lease, but appfolio is taking it's sweet time.

Today I pulled a HUGE chunk of glass from my yard as well as large pieces of what looks like ceramic. All very pointy. I often pick up very small pieces of glass while sitting on my porch because I can look down and see tons of debris. I've even pulled rusty nails and junk that I can't make out but clearly isn't organic material.

This was advertised as a pet friendly home and my dog is currently suffering from her second paw injury. Do I have any rights in this matter? I haven't made a formal maintenance request as based on what the manager said, it didn't feel like she was willing to do anything about it. Maybe I should just make a request anyway?

Thanks for the help! I'll post more about my lease once the website loads!

Edit: Lease says nothing about hazards in yard. Hmm.
