A car hit me while crossing and drove off. Do I need to pursue it or cut my losses?
Post Body

Posting again to get some advice.

I am located in Oklahoma.

Going to give a quick rundown of the incident: I (as in myself, not my vehicle) was hit as I was crossing a crosswalk to the Walmart nearby three days ago. The vehicle did not stop and left by the time I came to consciousness.

I got out of the accident with some cuts, bruises, and a concussion. I was very, very lucky. I have good insurance and was able to go to urgent care and have the majority of my medical items paid for.

The police there did not file a report because it was on private property. There were witnesses, but I did not get any names. I was very dazed and could not think properly to get any information after the incident. I had no one with me to get names or pictures afterwards.

My husband is saying we need to go to a lawyer and pursue it because the person who hit me should face jailtime because they could have killed me. I don't know if it is worth pursuing. This accident aggravated some pre existing conditions I have: mainly increased pain I have from degenerative disc disease in my C2-C4.

Do I have a case? Should I cut my losses or can this be pursued? Should this even be pursued?
