Will changing my name cause problems with inheriting my parents’ estate?

Post Body

First time posting here so if this is the wrong sub I apologize.

I am a trans man and I want to change my legal name for obvious reasons. My parents said that if I did, I might not be able to inherit the stuff they’re leaving for me. I did a little research and it sounds like as long as I have the paperwork proving my name was changed, I should still be able to inherit everything without any problems.

That said, I definitely don’t want to take the chance of there being issues, particularly since I’m not changing my name due to marriage. Should I wait to change my name or will I be ok as long as I have all the correct paperwork?
