Complicated situation over money being taken from my fiance over 2 years and we just noticed
Post Body

Hi! I’m going to try to keep this short. So a bit before my fiance and I dated he broke up with his ex due to her being a user and other things, and he made it clear he’s not buying anything for her anymore. We are all gamers and he buys a lot of games on PlayStation network. After he broke up with her he changed his card number because she had his card on her account. He thought he was on the clear. This was In the summer 2021. He had a good couple ten thousand in savings and wouldn’t spend money on anything but his games so he never would check his bank account.

Fast forward to now, when money is a little tight and he hasn’t been spending money on games. He got a notification on his bank for a psn purchase. Our alarms went off and we knew someone is purchasing. We called chase bank and apparently changing the card number still allows for purchases to be made in a wallet.

So basically, we went back a year in bank transactions and his psn account transactions (as well as my account and his brothers because we use his card) to compare what was unrecognized. In April 2023, this chick spent 353 dollars in seperate psn transactions. I got tired looking and we are requesting older bank statements . We are estimating she spent at least 5000 on game/in game purchases.

We have her username and I tried contacting the bank they can’t do much. I tried contacting psn and obviously they can’t access her account and pull out the wallet as well as look at the transaction history because it is private information. They couldn’t give me a number for extra help or anything. No legal team nothing. As for now I think he just has to freeze his bank account.

My question is, how do we proceed from here. Do we obtain a police report and submit his bank history as well as his authorized psn history to show so many transactions don’t match up? We want her charged and we want the money back or her going to jail or even both. This isn’t the only thing she’s done. But we don’t know how to carry on with this and lawyers are expensive. I appreciate any output!
