Post Body

I'm in quite a situation and I'm very concerned about my potential U-Visa status.

I am the dependent under my parent's U-visa application, we both just received our BFD's, work authorization and social security cards after waiting since 2019 of the initial application submission. The decision of the U-Visa is unfortunately still a long wait, so my worry now is what would happen if the principal applicant were to move out of the US?

Would that affect my potential U-Visa decision? What can I do to prevent issues? When am I considered "Independent" from the principal applicant?

My lawyer informed me of a waiver that can be filled out before my parent leaves so it doesn't affect my potential status.
