I offered my friend of over 10 years to move into my house in one of my spare bedrooms. I told him Iāll just charge him $200/month to offset utilities so he can get on his feet. I knew he was struggling and wanted to help him out, as Iāve had my own hard times.
First red flag: He called me at the airport while going through TSA to move here (Norfolk, Virginia). He said he didnāt know if he left a meth rock in his bag and didnāt know if it was caught through the TSA process. This was my first time of hearing about any hard drug use. He told me he needed to get away from the town and people where this was an influence on him.
Fast forward: He has had several random men from Grindr come into my home without my consent. I have a ring camera and ADT home security because the crime rate is high here. I caught this several times on camera. We discussed it, had a heart to heart, and agreed that heād at least only invite over any āregularā person he hooks up with, as long as I can introduce them to my dogs so they donāt inadvertently attack them and hold me liable. He continued to let several random men over, sold weed to them on my front porch, and bought god knows what from others. I believe he is using hard drugs. I know he had his sister mail marijuana to my house for him from Oregon. I told him not to do that as well. Continued to do it. Asked him not to smoke weed in my house. Continued to do it.
Now: I am active duty Navy with security clearance. Heās become too much of a liability for my career, as I have a month left without any reprimand. My status is honorable discharge. Heās putting me at legal risk and risk to my career and future VA benefits (dependent on discharge status). He left a weed pen in my car and told me after I had gone through the base gate. If there had been a random vehicle search to my car, I would face federal law, regardless of local laws.
I gave him until July 1st to move out, and I stated my reasons (via text). Out of spite, heās said heās using every last day until the 1st.
Can I legally have him removed from home if heās doing illegal activity? Or do I have to honor the āwrittenā July 1st date? I own the home. My wife canāt sleep and one of my dogs is chewing at her tail from anxiety. I need him out ASAP.
