My employer has us use our personal cell phones for work purposes. We have to document certain activities either with photos or within a group chat (100 % work only) on a certain social media platform we had to download onto our phone.
Our employer has several group chats going for several different work sites. Needless to say employees can be in several chat groups at the same time.
Our employer has threatened termination if we delete old “chat messages” even though it’s our personal phone and the employer does not pay for any cellular service. Some of these messages are months old.
Is this legal?
