How to properly serve papers to executor by mail?

Post Body

I'll start with some background. My grandfather passed several years ago and he left most of his estate to me in his will. However, the executor of the will, a former business partner of my grandfather's, never filed the will and instead stole the entire estate. He still had his name listed on my grandfather's bank accounts, so he was able to drain them without filing any paperwork that I'm aware of. Unfortunately the original copy of the will was in the executor's possession and he may have destroyed it.

I went to the Surrogate's Court in Queens County, NY, where my grandfather lived, and started a probate proceeding to compel the production of the will. After four months of waiting, I received a nearly blank email from the Court this week with a PDF of their order attached. It specifies that I should send a certified copy by overnight mail to the executor. However, it seems unlikely to me that my printout of this PDF document would qualify as "certified". I was expecting them to send me something by regular mail with a raised seal. Is this printout sufficient?

I feel anxious about this because it's very time sensitive. I am supposed to serve the executor within a few days, and the court date is set for about 3 weeks from now. Neither of us live anywhere near the court. The executor lives in the South and I live on the West Coast.

Thank you for reading.

EDIT: Found out there are "process server" companies which specialize in doing this. Hired one, would recommend.
