I have been getting some plumbing work done on my home recently, I have 2 dogs one of which is a great pyrenees who is protective of property. The dog is always kept behind closed doors away from work to to be done. I always forewarn anyone on property to not open a closed door in the house as I have a large protective dog. My fiance was in the back yard with dogs while the work was being done. Inside upstairs I went into back yard to ask her a question. During that time the plumber opened the back door to get my attention and the dog barged inside and bit him one time on the calf before I grabbed the dog. From there the plumber had a puncture wound but nothing to serious gave him some peroxide and a guaze wrap. This morning I got an email and in it ask for payment regarding a Dr. Visit and antibiotics. I have no problem paying it and even then sum to just make sure this goes away. However after I happened I tried to give him money for it right then and there however he would not accept now receiving this email stating my dog attacked him while he was "preforming his duties"I worry that it is to start a paper trail. And if I agree to pay it with no other comments it's an admission of guilt so I replied agreeing to cover the medical cost but accept no further liability as I have always warned to not go near the animal. So my question is.... am I over thinking this? should I have not paid? Or should I just pay it and add some on top just to make it go away?
