Hi, I'm in Washington State. I had a traffic infraction that I contested and received a court date of January 4th 2024 in the mail a couple weeks ago. On December 2nd(Saturday), I received a letter that they made a mistake and my date was moved to December 6th. I can prove when the letter arrived (I get emails of the picture of the letter from USPS). The letter head said November 22nd, and likely was delayed due to Thanksgiving.
This means I had zero chance to request discovery because I need to give 14 days notice to the court.
Is the best I can do here is ask for a continuance, or is there a procedural rule that I clearly need 14 days notice making this grounds for dismissal?
