At the end of last year my wife was in a pretty bad car accident. The car was totaled and we got a lawyer and have been dealing with it for about a year. My wife still has a bruise on her shin, she has a small little bump on her head still, she has a herniated disk and a torn meniscus tear in her knee. She can walk still but not for very long without having to take breaks. She’s been in and out of doctors appointments for the last year and is starting to get run down about it. We had a call recently with the lawyer where she said she was kinda just over doctors, telling her that she needed to lose weight and possibly have surgery instead of offering any other more reasonable paths because she can’t really exercise well right now. The lawyer told us that the case has been upgraded to a possible DUI and has substantially increased in monetary possibility and that she should just keep going with the doctors, also saying the total length of the case could take up to 24 months… does this sound normal? We’re pretty lower end of the socioeconomic scale so time and money are very scarce for us and are trying just to figure out what our next moves are. Thanks for any advice or info on if this is normal or worth continuing.
