I live in an apartment building that has an underground parking garage with assigned parking spots. All of the spots on the perimeter have a cinder-block wall...except mine. My spot faces a small utility room, meaning the front of my parking spot is drywall. While stopped (immediately after parking), I took my foot off the brake pedal, however the car was still in drive. The car lurched forward about a foot, right into the wall. There is now a crack in the drywall from where the license plate frame struck the wall.
The office was closed yesterday and today; I realize I am going to need to inform the apartment management when the office reopens. What should I expect to happen from here? What is the best-case outcome (being realistic); what is the worst-case outcome? Also, should I notify my insurance company ahead of me contacting the apartment management? If so, will this fall under my auto-insurance, or renters insurance (I have both under the same policy)?
