I help a friend moderate his community discord. We recently had an incident where a minor(14F), we will call her Claire, accused and adult(22M), we will call him Frank, of grooming her. Claire admitted to lying about their age initially before sexual communication began and convincing Frank to send her over $500 in exchange for photos, which she claims are photos she found online of random people. Eventually Claire revealed her age, but Frank did not care. Claire then lied again to try to convince Frank to send her more money, but he refused. That's when the report came through our ticketing system. After reviewing the evidence, Frank was banned and we reported the situation to the authorities. As for Claire, we had an argument between the mod team that resulted in a 1 week timeout. The concern is that she has absolutely NO REMOURSE for lying to this guy and scamming him out of money. We wanted to try and contact her parents, but it's very difficult to track that down. Part of my concern is that it should be illegal for a child to do this bc it's sex work right? We just want her to realize the danger she's putting herself in, but it's hard. Wtf do we do?
