My best friends aunt ran me over with her car
Post Body

I need some advice. I’m sorry this is going to be so long but I don’t know what else to do. So on the first of July sometime around midnight my friends boyfriends car broke down on the side of the road and she called to have her mom pick us up (4 of us total). I was getting in the drivers side back seat taking out a dog car seat so I could get in and sit. I was unbuckling the seat and my best friends aunt just starts driving away. It all happened so quick and my right foot gets run over. Everyone in the car is screaming at her to stop and she puts it in park. My foot is in searing pain and I’m sorry I may have broke it. I go back to the house and she tells me that she’s a nurse and that it doesn’t look broken so I should be okay. She tells me to ice it and keep it elevated when I go to bed. I do that because why wouldn’t I trust her? She’s my best friends aunt and also a nurse? I go to work and my foot just keeps aching and it’s bruised and painful to the touch. So I go home and I’m contemplating whether or not I go to the er. On the 3rd I end up going to the er and mind you I don’t have insurance, it lapsed on the first of July. So I ended up getting an X-ray to make sure nothing is broken (THANKFULLY NOT) but she’s telling everyone that she cannot afford it and that she will not be paying for it. What do I do? Do I lawyer up? Do I have any options? Do I try to settle this outside of the courts? Please give me some advice because I seriously need some to ease my mind. Thank you!
