Greetings redditors
So back story. This is a 3bedroom apartment with the third new roommate moving in soon. My current roommate Mel is a girl and I’m the guy.
A month before pirror to this I suggested to move my girlfriend and take my previous roommate spot. She said im not comfortable with your gf moving in.
So last week, my roommate knocked on my door in the morning, which is weird because we don’t really talk and stay in our rooms. She said Hi, I just want to talk out that this as Us not working out. So i want to asked you to move out by August. I didn’t say anything just replied, I respect that you came up to me it takes guts. I will get back to you.
So legally, all my previous bills are paid and rent paid on time. There was never this problem with late rent. I have internet billing address to my name on it. I’m been living here for 2 years. And my name has been on two previous leases. But she pays the rent to the landlord and as we all venmo her. The rent money and she pay the electric and heat bills.
Doe she have legal power to evict me with no reasons or warning?
If she gets landlord on her side, can they legally evict me ?
Do i consider as legal member of the household, since i have name on my bills and i have been living here for at least 2 years?
Is she consider the head of the household and she can evict roommates?
To me the problem seems like one sided on her side. I haven’t done nothing morally and legally wrong.
Any help would be great
Update:6/9/2023
I called landlord and asked him if he is aware of the situation and he said yes. He has informed me that his lease is with Mel and she is the one to choose roommates, but only upon his approval (landlord) she can get the roommate she want. As she is been the oldest.
The landlord nor Mel has provided me a written notice what so ever. Again I have the lease signed with her making me as the co tennent. I have paid the bills on time and rent.
I believe there is no this would be illegal right according to Massachusetts Boston.
