Long story short, I’m no contact to the primary owner of a vehicle due to domestic violence. I am 100% not wanting to contact this person and I was told I could use a POA (power of attorney) get the ownership changed to my name only.
However, I’ve obviously never dealt with a situation like this. I’m located in Washington state, the primary owner is in Missouri. I’m confused; will I need a power of attorney form in Washington state or Missouri in order to transfer ownership?
TLDR: no contact with primary owner of vehicle due to domestic violence, I’m co-owner of the vehicle. I don’t want to speak with the primary and need power of attorney to transfer ownership. Do I need power of attorney on the Washington state side (where I live) or on the Missouri side (car title based/primary owner location)?
