Brother-in-law is in the hospital in a coma. How can we (the family) deal with his monthly debt?
Post Body

Hi all,

I’m not really sure if this is the right place to ask, but I’m really hoping I can at least get pointed in the right direction!

My brother-in-law suffered a stroke on Tuesday morning, and is currently in a coma. He is 40 years old, single and lives alone. He does not have a power of attorney, and his older sister is the next of kin. We’re unsure of the next steps we should take. Is there going to be a case worker or something that will be assigned to his care to help with matters like this?

In addition, we don’t have access to his phone or computer to figure out his monthly payments (credit cards, car payment, rent, etc.). Is there anything we can do to find out this information? I don’t want this terrible, life-altering event to affect his financial future as well.

Any information is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your time!
