I was fired while I was on injury leave ordered by my employer.
Post Body

Sometime close to the end of January I sustained a back injury while at home. I contacted my employer and was not allowed to return unless I had a doctors release. I went to urgent care and was given an x ray order to try to figure out why I was in pain as well as a release to return to work in 3 days. I had to return to urgent care to request a second note due to the x ray office being closed on the weekend. The whole time I was in communication with my HR department and they seemed to have no problem. Eventually I returned to work but a couple days later I woke up with a familiar feeling of pain so I chose to call off for the day and told work I wanted to use PTO to cover my absence. I figured I would rest and be good to go the next day. I ended up still having pain but much less than the day before. It was minor pain now , more of a discomfort. Well, the manager at the dealer decided it was not okay for me to be absent because as soon as I returned the next day I was called to the office to be written up for the time I missed while on my injury leave. There was a little back and forth as I thought I was covered by my notes until it reached a point where I let them know I am still experiencing minor pain. Upon hearing this I was placed on leave until I provided a doctors release. Their suggestion was to go to urgent care and I did and got another note to return in 3 days but when I sent the note to HR, they said I was fine to return if I felt no pain before changing their mind and texting me saying they required a full doctors release from my provider to allow me to return to work. The closest doctors appointment I could get was about a week and a half away and the whole time I communicated this with HR and was told this okay and that the rest of the team would be notified of when I will be able to be seen. The whole time they asked for notes from urgent care which made no sense because the first note i sent after being put on leave did not allow for my return. I sent two urgent care letters but once i secured my appointment with my doctor I notified HR. I was not contacted by my employer for the few days that led up to my appointment(was told by my employer they will wait for me to be seen by my doctor) However after seeing my doctor and getting a full release, I found a termination letter in my email. This made no sense to me as they were constantly in contact with me and in the loop with everything going on. Their reasoning was that one of the urgent care letters I gave them said I was to return on a set day and I never did. I was told I cannot return based on my urgent care letters yet I was fired for not returning when my urgent care letter stated I should return. Not sure if that makes sense but I have all the texts regarding the incident. I feel like they just wanted any excuse to fire me. What can I do?
