I was laid off and given 3 months severance. The agreement contained this phrase:
âthe Severance amount will be less any payments Employee receives from any other person or entity as an employee or independent contractor during the Severance Periodâ
Later it states âemployee agrees to promptly disclose new employment and the amount of compensation earned during severance periodâ
Iâm not planning to work during my severance period and obviously I agreed to these statements but I am wondering how my former job would know if I were to work and not disclose it.
I am also getting unemployment which in my state you can receive both severance and unemployment at the same time. Maybe through the unemployment claims my former company can see if I am employed? Genuinely just curious how or if they would know if I worked and didnât tell them.
