Post Body

Hey guys, I could really use some advice and some help.

I was born with a spinal disorder, and need special equipment in order to work at a desk for long periods of time. This was known by my job's HR department, and wasn't an issue because we had been working from home due to the pandemic.

Suddenly, one of their clients made a request that everyone return to office, and that they would be shutting down the VPN that allows us to login.

I reached out to HR, and they stated to discuss this further they would need a note from my doctor about my specific disability. I went to my doctor, and they said that HR should have provided me with an ADA form that would allow them to disclose the information. When I asked for the form from HR, they didnt send me it and instead stated that my only options were to return to office or be fired without the option for unemployment.

I considered this a violation of my ADA rights, not just because they refused to give me the paperwork, but also because they didn't offer any other options even though there are other clients that we work for that still offer WFH. So I tried reporting it via EEOC. However, there hasn't been any appointments available to go over my inquiry, and it's been almost a month. I have tried working with Disability Rights Texas and was rejected due to high volume. They linked me to a place called "mytela" and I've been rejected from a few other lawyers on there.

I have since been fired from my job. So please let me know, since I'm in Texas, am I able to get unemployment considering what occurred? Should I continue to try to find legal council for my employers response in regards to an ADA form? Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.
