I recently started at a new company that manufactures fasteners for the aviation/aerospace industry. They may have been negligent in the hiring process as I am a foreign national but seem to have access to documents that are EAR/ITAR regulated. Will I face a penalty for their export violation? The penalties are roughly $1million or 10-20 yrs in prison, etc. I am the one opening the documents, and I have asked my supervisor about the warnings I read on the documents only for him to dismiss my concerns. We reference these documents to manufacture parts, so I believe they are up to date.
I started 1 week ago and just want to know if I am liable to penalties and how to proceed.
