I started working at a new job at the end of last month for a total of three weeks, in the state of Alabama. I quit at the beginning of the third week because my paycheck was significantly lower than I expected it to be. Owner claimed that was because I was doing a different role in the store that paid less. I asked for a pay stub explaining my wages and he refused and told me my w2 would br available next month. My final paycheck was also very short and he refuses to respond to me. Another thing that bothers me a lot is that our "check" is usually a zip lock baggie full of cash. I did fill out a w4 after I had been working there for a week before my first pay. He claims that he is taking out taxes but that seems unlikely. Is there any recourse for me to take?
