Hope this post is accepted on this sub. Im looking for an opinion about my mom’s arrest. Yes she has a public defender but idk how to contact him to ask questions and i believe hes just whoever the courts provided her. So my mom’s first criminal charge was a DUI a few months back. She was put on probation and had community service along with some fines. Now she was arrested again for DUI trying to drive down the street to the store (it’s literally a 5 minute walk🤦🏼♂️). This time she was charged with DUI and violation of probation. She was arrested early morning of the 1st. She was denied bond (from what i understand the “warrant” for no bail was acquired quickly which is rare from what i was told, not sure if that’s important). Her next court date is on the 9th, we are hoping she will be put back on probation.
So my question is whats the possibility my mom gets out on the 9th? How long would she likely have to stay in jail if shes not put back on probation.
If theres any other info that would be important let me know and i will make an edit and add it to the post.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: guys, I understand what my mom did was stupid. I didnt ask for help on formulating an opinion about what she did.
I just want any sort of legal opinion about what might happen based on the situation.
As im sure we can all agree, drunk driving is bad. stating it in this circumstance does, nothing.
Edit: in Florida
In Maine DUI is typically three day mandatory jail sentence. States are increasing cracking down on it and because you mom has not taken it seriously there is a good chance they will not be willing to work with her further. You can contact the DA’s and see if they have a point of contact for her court appointed lawyer. I embarrassingly have two dui. 6 years apart on at 18 and 24 years old. The DMV and Criminal system don’t communicate with one another so don’t expect anything to allow her to drive. The worst thing she did was put herself in the position to get arrested again. I hope she can see the errors in her ways and try and do better.
