The jurisdiction for this is Georgia.
So I have a storage unit that's part of my home, and about a year ago an Individual, and a Corporation (Person as a corporation, corporation makes no profit, but legally it's still a corporation) started to house some of their contents, at my home. Afterwards, I had a falling out with the both of them (Separate incidents), and have not heard from the Individual since July 2023, and the Corporation since October 2024.
I have had no requests from Individual or Corporation to pick up their possessions, either verbally or in writing. While I am no longer in correspondence with either of them, they are easily able to contact me if they so choose to. I have kept their contents untouched in that storage unit for a year/almost a year now.
At this point, I pretty much just want the stuff out of my house. The Individual's items are personal effects, and the Corporation's items are backups for their Corporation that they apparently didn't know existed.
At what point if any, have they legally abandoned their property to me?
As part of good faith, would sending them written, certified correspondence to their known address advising that they or a representative need to acquire it within 60 days or else it will be considered permanently forfeit be a prudent course of action?
If still abandoned, does it matter what I do with the items afterwards?
