I’m on day 5 clean from smoking every evening weekends. Besides the boredom and anger, my biggest problem is sleeping…when I need to! Usually when I get home I start smoking, cook dinner, chores, tv, etc while smoking through the evening until I go to sleep around 11/12.
Now that I’m not smoking, I’m exhausted from work when I get home. I took a nap for a couple of hours yesterday when I got home. I woke up around 8pm to watch a football game on tv. When it was time for me to go to sleep, I couldn’t. I ended up cleaning my bathroom, eating the rest of my dinner (can’t get thru a full meal now) and then laying in bed until 2/3 am. I have to wake up for work at 5/5:30 am. Of course after my alarm went off, I was able to fall back asleep and overslept for work 🙄
I work in construction, so it makes sense that I’m tired at the end of the day. But if I nap now, I’ll be up all night. What’s more irritating is that I was never tired after work when I used to smoke. I will admit that when I do wake up in the morning, I feel very clear and alert, it’s wayyyy easier to wake up now (I used be groggy, grumpy, and struggled to wake up on time). Now I feel more well rested, but I’m still only sleeping a few hours. Right now (@ 4 in the afternoon) I want to sleep so badly. But I know I’ll be up later if I do.
Also, not sure if there’s a connection but - my sex drive is at 0 now that I’m not smoking. Lol jerking off was kinda part of my nightly routine, that probably contributed to me falling asleep. But Ive had no interest in sex since I stopped smoking.
At least when I was high I could get 6 hrs of sleep at NIGHT. Even if it was shit sleep. What am I supposed to do to deal with this? How long will it last? I stopped smoking for work, but I’ll get fired anyways if I keep oversleeping from the late night insomnia.
