I am a CS student who happens to make beats. Occasionally I sample other music, to sample correctly I need to know the key of the song and the beats per minute (BPM). What I also want to add is if the song that I sample contains samples itself.

I want it to work like Shazam where you just need to listen to the song.

I know that there are tools out there that do this already but I want to build it myself as I think this could be a fun project to do.

What I need help with is finding the right information on how to build that.

I’m pretty sure that I need a database where all the info is stored, but apart from that what else do I need, and which language should I build this with ?

I want to use it in web and as a plug-in on Mac/Windows as VST/VST3.
