I'm just wondering, really. Been working on a project that is not focused on that, but requires a shell script which will force me to learn at least one of them (almost) from 0, and from the little I have learned before, that stuff can be a pain in the ass and has a somewhat steep learning curve when you're starting out. Since I never see it being mentioned often by people, I decided to ask.
Is it worth it to pull through and force myself to learn all that stuff to a decent level? Will it be useful on a day to day basis or is it more useful for sys admins and whatnot?
