[Android] Finding a good up to date beginner guide

Can anyone suggest an up to date beginner guide or make suggestions what to do with the old guides when things go wrong?

I've been following guides. I'm having issues though. For example, when I go into Eclipse what the guide says I should be seeing in regards to the default code and what is there is quite different. The guide is telling me that it's meant for version 'x', but the latest is version 'y' which may be why.

I mention a good guide. By that I mean;

Explains everything. I've been following an oft recommended beginners one, which doesn't mention a bunch of things like where to put a new utility class (or what one is) and part of it comes down to 'copy this code, which isn't explained at all'. I got to the point of testing a temperature conversion app and clicking the button does nothing (I assume something has gone wrong with the conversion utility class, either linking it to the button or the part that changes the text).

If it's video, also ideally has writing outside of the video so I can follow it at my own pace and not keep pausing, going back, replaying, etc.

I followed a video series about half a year back and made a clicker application. If anyone recognizes that and it will still work, that would be good. I lost the files due to a hard drive failure.
