Quadratic Equation Help
Post Body

Hi, Iā€™m doing a course and I have spent a lot of time trying to work out how they progressed the equation to be suitable to apply the quadratic formula.

The equation:

(1/D) (1/r) - (1/(D-r)) = 0

Answer:

Solving for (r/D) yields: (r/D) = (-1Ā± āˆš5)/2

Obviously, they have applied the quadratic formula but how did they get the equation into the below format to apply the formula?

(r/D)^2 (r/D) - 1 = 0

Iā€™m sure the answer is simple and Iā€™m clearing overlooking something. Please help!
