A Curious Equation
Post Body
The following is an equation that I have been analyzing for a little while on the side:
xy yx=Q
I have two questions related to this equation:
- Does this equation have a name?
- Is there is some clever way to isolate y to one side of the equation? As far as my understanding of math is, it does not seem possible.
Also, on a side note, my nickname for it is the hairpin equation because when I plug in my favorite value of Q, 2(1/e)(1/e), the graph of the equation resembles a bent hairpin. Does anyone have any alternate nicknames?
