I got up to there, but I got stumped so after looking up the question on the internet I see the next step showing 1 sqrt 3 and 1 - sqrt3. I'm hoping if someone could explain to me how they got to that part

Okay, so I get that sqrt(12) is sqrt(4)sqrt(3) But how did the 2 become a 1?
